Water Filters Versus Water Supply Services PDF Print E-mail

I love the taste of clean, fresh water, but I've never understood why so many people will go to so much trouble and effort hauling those giant ten gallon bottles to and from their homes, or get them delivered to their door only to have to lift those heavy suckers onto your water dispenser. Sure, it's great to have hot and cold filtered water at your fingers, but man what a lot of work!

Personally, I find it much easier just to attach a water filter to my kitchen faucet, and fill a plastic water jug and place it in the refrigerator. The jug, while more rectangular shaped, has a spout, and I get the same fresh filtered water (cold) without the cost or effort of those expensive water services. Plus I don't have to spend any time bringing the bottles back and forth from the water supply station, risking a back injury, or spillage.

The cost of these home water filters is next to nothing, and you only need to change the filter every few months. Installing the water filter on the faucet takes only a few minutes, and doesn't take any skill or expertise other than knowing how to unscrew the tap's original spout filter, and attaching the new filter.

These purifiers remove most of the sediment, and more importantly almost all of the chlorine, which is where the bad taste comes from. I've even gone so far as to filter the water from the tap into another water filter jug (Brita I think), therefore double-filtering my water supply, ensuring that it's as clean and safe as it can possibly get. Sure it might be a little silly, but what's sillier? Perhaps, carrying four empty water jugs to the supermarket with your kids...

Now many people are perfectly satisfied with the water that comes out of the tap, but in many areas of the world, the water isn't as fresh, and obviously other solutions are necessary. So, instead of spending money on expensive water delivery services, or water refilling charges, take a moment to price out a nice, inexpensive faucet water filter, and see if that doesn't meet your taste requirements. With 70% of the planet being covered by water, you would think that wouldn't have to pay anything for it!
